2/20/2020 Winter Camp Day 4 Hieroglyphic Writing on Papyrus 象形文字與沙草紙

The students took on a challenging art project today. They created ancient Egyptian scrolls. This was a very involved process which included aging paper, learning about hieroglyphs, writing hieroglyphic messages, using grid systems to transfer an image, embossing and coloring foil, and finally using a small flame to burn away the edges of their scroll. The students should be proud of themselves for persevering through the whole endeavor. The results speak for themselves.

寫給法老的一封信~

老師引導孩子們體驗在仿古沙草紙上,寫上古埃及象形文字以及畫上眾神圖像,彷彿隔空與法老王傳遞訊息呢! 完成自己的作品後,老師帶領孩子們使用小火焰燒紙的邊緣,使其看起來像是剛出土的文物一樣! 隨著孩子們的努力,成就感呼之欲出,對於古埃及的文化有更深一層的認識囉!

2/19/2020 Winter Camp Day 3 Robotics 我專屬的機器人

To start the day, students were given a brief introduction about programming languages and their applications to robotics. They started exploring the modular coding language “SCRATCH.” Scratch is a block-based language for young learners. They had lots of fun with Scratch creating their own animations and video games.

In the second part of the class, students were able to get hands-on actual robots. Elementary school students learned how to operate pre-programmed machines such as drones and remote-control cars. Whereas high school students created real-life applications with Arduino and Microbit motherboards and peripherals. The best project of the day was an alarm system with motion detector.

用模型程式的語言開啟嶄新的一天! Scratch是一套專門設計給兒童及青少年的程式設計軟體,不需學習程式語法便能設計程式。孩子們能夠盡情在Scratch 發揮創意去創作屬於自己得動畫及遊戲。

課程中,安排小學的孩子們透過親自操作無人機及遙控車,結合理論及生活應用;而中學的孩子則是透過Arduino 及Microbit學習硬體及軟體的實作,從中了解主機板及周邊設備的架構。自己動手製作警報系統,是很有成就感的事呢!

為什麼? 為什麼? Q1. 乾冰會融化嗎?加熱乾冰後會怎樣?Q2. 為麼麼乾冰遇到湯匙會尖叫?遇到水卻氣到冒煙? Q3. 為什麼乾冰洗完澡後,水會變成黃色?

老師透過乾冰與生活常見器材的搭配,問題的引導,使孩子在學習過程中,逐漸地理解生活中的各種科學概念。讓孩子在學習之後,能夠愛上科學。
